Black Pride, The Good Pride
"Black pride" is a slogan used primarily in the American culture[citation needed] where it is used to raise awareness of the state of black racial identity and to express solidarity amongst group members. Related movements include black supremacy and afrocentrism.
The slogan has been used in the United States by African Americans to denote a feeling of self-respect, celebrating one's heritage, and being proud of one's personal worth. Black pride as a national movement is closely linked with the developments of the American Civil Rights Movement, during which noted figures such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, A. Philip Randolph, Stokely Carmichael, and others protested the conditions of the United States' segregated society, and lobbied for better treatment for people of all races. Roy Innis has sought to enhance and build on the black pride movement of the mid-1960’s, he and a Congress of Racial Equality delegation toured seven African countries in 1971.
White Pride, The Bad Racist Kind
White pride is a slogan used primarily in the United States and Canada to agitate for a white European racial identity. The slogan is widely used by white nationalists and white separatists movements.[2] Organizations advocating white pride are collectively referred to as the white pride movement.
The term "white pride" is widely used by groups that are also sometimes called white separatist, white nationalist or white supremacist. Sociologists Betty A. Dobratz and Stephanie L Shanks-Meile state that the slogan White Power! White Pride! is "a much-used chant of white separatist movement supporters".[10]
The slogan "White Pride, World Wide" appears in the logo of Stormfront, a website owned and operated by Don Black, who was formerly a Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.[11] Other extremists also use the term, such as the North Georgia White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan who described themselves as "a patriotic, White Christian revival movement dedicated to preserving the maintenance of White Pride and the rights of the White Race".[12]
According to Joseph T. Roy of the Southern Poverty Law Center, white supremacists often circulate material on the Internet and elsewhere that "portrays the groups not as haters, but as simple white pride civic groups concerned with social ills".[13]
Let's examine this. Black pride is portrayed in a perfect light, no mention of Black Panthers or Black Communists, just people who are proud of their ethnic heritage. Even the see also links at the end of the black pride article is only black nationalism.
Next the White Pride has mentions several different "hate groups" and conveniently uses the term "White pride is a slogan used primarily in the United States and Canada to agitate for a white European racial identity." This doesn't seem like fair an unbiased reporting to me. It has many negative words in it that conger up negative images of anyone who would use the term white pride and builds a bogus correlation between White Pride and the KKK and Stormfront. The See also links are more numerous in this article they are
Racialism
White nationalism
White separatism
White supremacy
Good thing they don't link Black pride to Black supremacy but of course anyone who mentions White pride automatically is linked to White supremacists and the KKK.
